Tammy R. Pierce
Welcome to The Noir And Blanc, my personal blog compiling my observations as a teacher. My name is Tammy. I’ve been teaching for the past few decades, and while I don’t have any children of my own, I’ve learned a lot about my students and their parents. I initially started as a fourth grade teacher in the Clark County School District, but I’ve recently been working with second graders. I can’t say I really have a preference – I really love educating children of all ages.
My Thoughts On Parenting
There’s a lot you can learn about a parent from teaching their child every day. Most of the kids I’ve taught have gotten decent grades and are generally attentive during lessons. However, I’ve had some students that just weren’t as successful. With many of these children, I can tell that there are issues at home. Sometimes they have no respect for authority or they have no motivation to learn. When I meet their parents during their individual conferences, everything comes together for me. It’s unfortunate that while so many parents really love their children, they aren’t providing the right atmosphere at home.
I’ve also noticed that many parents are much too lenient with their child’s use of electronic devices. I can’t tell you how many cell phones I’ve had to confiscate because my students kept texting during a lesson. On that note, I think children in elementary school are far too young to handle the responsibility of using a cell phone and the Internet. While I’m sure that some of you disagree with me, I’ll be exploring a lot of these topics and themes throughout The Noir And Blanc. I don’t think things are as black or white as society may seem, so I think it’s important to explore these issues from all angles. I’m really interested in hearing what you think, too. Please, send me an email and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
